The U.S. Reserve is heartbroken about the recent events surrounding Hurricane Harvey. We empathize because we’re an Austin, TX company, and Houston has welcomed us warmly since the beginning. Our customers and employees told us about their struggles, and we had to do something.
To express our sympathy for those affected, we collaborated with the Austin Disaster Relief Network to provide emergency housing, transportation, financial assistance, and emotional support. We will also match donations given to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund associated with the Disaster Relief Network.
In detail, the Austin Disaster Relief Network provides crisis relief to Hurricane Harvey survivors so they can recover from this horrific event. It circled landfall three times, and each time it got worse. Many people lost their lives in the storm, and more lost belongings. Heirlooms, photographs, and financial documents are irreplaceable while everyday essentials like oral care products, medicine, hygiene products, clothing, and food are scarce. Consequently, the hurricane left behind toxic water, sewage, trash, and debris. It’s chaotic, stressful, and overwhelming.
Greg Abbott, Texas Governor, mentions Harvey’s damages are a history-making $180 billion. He expects the recovery from Houston, Corpus Christi, and surrounding areas to use plenty of resources and funding to bring those cities back to prominence. Federal aid will cover the majority but can’t cover all expenses.
Various charities, organizations, and donations from U.S. and Canadian citizens will pitch in to help cover the rest. Each donation (whether money or essential products) and goodwill (i.e., free meals, offering shelter) will springboard toward recovery. Our partnership with ADRN is a fulfilling opportunity to give back to the community while helping those who desperately need resources to start a new life.
